2 months has come and gone in the blink of an eye. It is hard to believe that you have already been in our lives for 2 months and at the same time hard to believe you have only been in our lives for 2 months. My motto from now on is that ‘4 of a kind is the best hand I have ever been dealt!’ And I truly feel that way. Do you know how many people have asked in the past two months if we are disappointed that we didn’t get a girl? Seriously? Disappointed? How could we ever look at any four of you precious boys and not think that we are the luckiest two people on this planet. As far as I’m concerned, there is no room for disappointment when my heart is overflowing with a crazy amount of love for all four of you. And I love everyone’s reaction when I say I have four boys, it is priceless. A look of ‘wow lady, what did you get yourself into’ kind of look. And it makes me smile every time :)
We had your 2 month check up yesterday and you both are doing tremendously well. Devin is 6 lb 13 oz and 19 1/2 inches long, and Dakota is 7 lb 9oz and 20 inches long. To think that you have doubled your birth weight in the past 9 weeks just blows my mind that you were as small as you were. Love is truly blind. I never saw you as these tiny helpless premature babies, because to me you were as strong as can be having to go through everything you went through. You two were fighters right from the very beginning. The Doctor said that developmentally you are right at 1-2 months normal newborn, you are not even at where a normal premie of your age would be at. You both roll over from your tummy to your back when doing tummy time. You have great head and neck control and can focus on objects. Better yet, no more doctors for another month until you have to go back for weight checks! YAY!
A couple ‘twin’ things that I am finding fascinating since you came home three weeks ago. I have caught you a few times holding hands when you are sleeping in your bassinet, which absolutely melts my heart. And you both get a little fussy at night time and now even during the day time until you are placed in the same bassinet as your brother.
